What Did I Do Last Night?

Happy National BBQ and Beer Recovery Day! I took the day off from writerly duties yesterday to celebrate the anniversary of America’s independence with my family. Morning hike, afternoon nap, grilled meat on a bun with a cold brewskie for dinner. So now I am paying the price with a gurgling gut and fuzzy headspace. Such are celebrations across our great land.

To my fellow burger and brat-eating Americans I say, “Take pride in our dysfunctional national family. We’re all we’ve got.” To my global friends I say, “Be patient with us. And stop rolling your eyes.”

To the revolution!
