My first newsletter is going out to my subscribers. I thank each of you and welcome you to the fold. As my schedule gets more…scheduled, newsletters will come more regularly. For those that have stood by my blog, thank you as well. The blog is not going away. I will use it as the muse moves me. The newsletter and the blog will share space in my publicity brain for a while and then we’ll see what happens.

I’m putting the blog in the back seat for a bit as I develop the scope and layout of my new quarterly newsletter. Once I have a format and a content set that I (and you) enjoy, then the newsletters will transition to monthly. Meanwhile (during the whilst?) this blog will be less than regular for a week or two. Bear with me. It will get back to a consistent and engaging schedule, I promise. So, if you’ll pardon me as I work things out with this newsletter, I promise your patience will be rewarded…. Happy National BBQ and Beer Recovery Day! I took the day off from writerly duties yesterday to celebrate the anniversary of America’s independence with my family. Morning hike, afternoon nap, grilled meat on a bun with a cold brewskie for dinner. So now I am paying the price with a gurgling gut and fuzzy headspace. Such are celebrations across our great land. To my fellow burger and brat-eating Americans I say, “Take pride in our dysfunctional national family. We’re all we’ve got.” To my global friends I say, “Be patient with us. And other niceties Last month I sent out a call for help: naming my work in progress. I set up a contest running until June 16, promising the top five entries would then be offered up to you to pick the winner. Well, some things changed over the last month, mainly that I only received three title ideas. So, after shuffling and sorting and pondering through that deep field of contenders, I narrowed the field. Then I engaged in wordplay. And so it is with a gleeful heart that I announce the winner and the… Read Article →
Summer finally arrived in Colorado after weeks of unseasonal cool, wet weather. As chance would have it, we’d planned a camping trip for this past weekend months in advance. Lucky us. I also took advantage of a sale at my favorite local liquor shop to venture back into the world of scotch. And on the 21st, I am a guest at a book club that read Exceptionals. Yes, it has been a weird week of camping, books, and booze. First, I love Colorado. I love its wild outdoors, four true seasons, and capacity for reminding… Read Article →
Yeah, this post is late and I’m sorry about that. However, my to-do list has gotten so long I forgot until ten minutes ago that it was even Tuesday. Crazy as these last seven days have been, all in all it has been a good week, a week of ups and ups. Of course, going up is hard work whether you’re flapping your wings or tackling the Manitou Incline and hard work has been happening with me. My day job is undergoing restructuring and redefining of positions. They call it “onboarding.” I call it having… Read Article →
StoriesbyBowen.com has been a thing for nearly five years (yeesh!). In that time those paying attention have surely noticed a lot of changes. From the look and theme of the site to expanding content to more books (yay!) to this here blog, the website has grown and morphed. At times keeping this thing going has been a pain, at times a joy. And now StoriesbyBowen.com is growing again as I offer up a newsletter! The newsletter will not be available on the website itself, but those of you who subscribe will find it (or a… Read Article →
