And other niceties
Last month I sent out a call for help: naming my work in progress. I set up a contest running until June 16, promising the top five entries would then be offered up to you to pick the winner. Well, some things changed over the last month, mainly that I only received three title ideas.
So, after shuffling and sorting and pondering through that deep field of contenders, I narrowed the field. Then I engaged in wordplay. And so it is with a gleeful heart that I announce the winner and the working title of my work in progress!
Drumroll, Ellen.
It new title is…The Quarry of Woes!
Fan Contest Provides a Working Title to WiP
This title (and all three submitted ideas) comes thanks to the imaginative brain of Amy M. from Rapid City, SD and will be used for the story of Darby Norman going forward. So, as I build Darby’s tale, stay tuned right here to get snippets of his adventures. Also, should I find myself in another story bind, there just might be another contest coming your way.

In other bookish news, last week I participated in my first book club gathering as a guest author. It was surreal, sitting with six folks all talking about my book, asking me questions about my writing process, how I came up with my ideas, what the deal was with the custodial crew. Oh, if you haven’t read Exceptionals yet, you kind of have to to understand any of my custodial references, such as Pornstache’s exploits on Press Your Luck or what is in Jake’s coffee cup.
Authors, if you get invited to be a guest at a book club, I highly recommend accepting. I found the occurrence beneficial to my own humility not to mention helping me to accept a compliment (and criticism).
